This pocket-sized digital BRIX refractometer ATAGO model 3810 PAL-1 is the reference in agriculture for field testing.
BRIX analysis refers to sugar contents usually measured in fruit juice and vegetables.
It is used to determine the maturity, ripeness, and flavor of the fruit, based on its sugar level: ultimately it helps growers to decide when to harvest their crops.
High BRIX means that the fruit / vegetable will be sweet and ripe (it is a crop quality indicator), while low BRIX might reflect a nutrient deficiency in your plant and high acidity in the fruit.
The model PAL-1 is the most popular digital refractometer - it works perfectly to measure almost any kind of liquid, such as fruit juice extract or plant fresh tissue (sap) to determine quickly and precisely the amount of sugar in your sample.
How to use: Once the zero calibration is completed, just pour 0.3 ml of sample on the prism surface and the meter will display the sample temperature and the Brix value in %.
